The Amber Flag

On Friday December 4th it was time to launch the Amber Flag Campaign. TY's had the day of class to get ready for the launch at lunch and to relax and have a positive mental health day. the TY's also got to wear their own amber clothes as we were part of the Amber Army. But first we had to launch the Amber Flag website. The girls on the website committee gave a presentation to us and Ms. Smith, Ms Leonard and Bridie from the Liffey Champion. After this it was back to relaxing. We had our lunch early that day so we would be free to do all our activities at lunch time. First we had to set up the hall for the bake sale. After this the bell for lunch went and we headed off to our destinations. There was face-painting, busking, bake sale, and emoji boards.
We were very with our hard work. We raised €400 for two charities, Pieta House and Suicide Awareness.

One girl in particular scared the nation when she made a poem about her My Little Pony. It went 'My little pony, Skinny and bony, Went to the stable, And died on the table'. There was also a little boy who rapped about his life on a farm. Finally there was a little boy who made his own boardgame about the weather. Then he met Evelyn Cusach, his idol and they played the game.

Mini Company

Today we started making products for our Mini Company. Our mini company idea is called 'Candy Creationz'. We stack chocolate bars on top of each other and use candy canes to make it resemble a sleigh. Displaying IMG_2279.JPGThey are on sale every Friday in the science corridor and cost €5.

Fun Walk

It was friendship week in school so that means one thing, Fun Walk. This is everyone's favourite day of the year. As usual TY's were yellow. We started practicing our dance at the start of the week and everyone was very excited. On Friday we came into school in our yellow clothes. Some of our class wore gray jumpers because they were the rain clouds. We practiced our dance every chance we could as we were starting to get very nervous. After break time we went to our tutour class for last minute preparations. We put on our face paint and did the dance again. Then it was time to go out to the tennis courts. The other TY class were first to dance, They were very good. Next it was our turn to show everyone how good we were. We even used moves from our karate classes that we had been attending as part of our PE course. We were very proud of our dance and sure we would win. Then we watched everyone else dance. The standard was very high this year. After all the dances it was time to go on the walk. Some of the TY's had to stay at certain points a long the way. The walk was very fun. When we got back it was home time. On Monday morning we were all eager to hear who had won. It was announced on the intercom that the other class won. We wear heartbroken. We will just have to win next year

Carlingford trip

On September 17th we headed off to Carlingford Adventure Center. Ms O'Callaghan and Mr. McGraine came with us. We arrived there at eleven o'clock and started our activities at twelve. We were split up into our two class groups and set on our way. My group went on a team building game while the others went on the water.  In our group we were split up again into smaller groups. We went on our way and started playing the games.  After all of this, we went back to the Center for lunch. Lunch was very nice. After lunch we were told where we were going- on the water. We were given wet suits and life jackets and went out onto the pier in the lashing rain. We then went pier jumping. We were soaking wet from the rain before we even got in the water. After that we got into canoes and went over to the water deck. We each took turns going over to the trampoline. John, an instructor came with us and he pushed everyone off the trampoline. After this we went back to the center for dinner, it was not very nice. Then we went out on Night-line. This was where we went into the forest, got blindfolded and had to trust each other and walk around the forest. It was not as hard or scary as i thought it would be so it was not the most enjoyable activity. When this was over we went to our rooms for the night. We had loads of food and stayed up all night. The next morning we woke up to the sound of the Bare Necessity's on the intercom. Now it was time to go zip-lining. This was the most fun of the entire trip. At the start it was very scary but by the end it was great fun. After this it we went back to the centre for lunch before going home. We were all very sad to be going home as we had enjoyed the trip so much.
